How common are 5 blade sowbelly knives

I see more fakes and counterfits than real knives. I have seen a couple of authentic examples here.

I know of at least 3 that belong to members here and I know of 3 others. I'm sure there are many more in collections. I would agree with you that there has sure been some "not true" 5 blades for sale as of late.

Old pre-WWII 5 blade knives are very uncommon in any US manufacture and configuration.

Jim Sargent was a good friend to me and my father. Over the years his council and insight was very helpful. This is one of several Remington knives Jim sold me out of his personal collection. Mint Five blade sow belly.

Look at the faked patina on the pen blade next to the clip, I think these knives are one in the same. Opposite end blades match as well. I told Lyle once, this is how you can "fingerprint" a knife.

I was able to get a 5 blade sowbelly from Stockman, it is very worn but still they a hard to find knife in any condition.
I lost all my photos in the Photobucket fiasco, I need to start on some new pictures.
