All About Pocket Knives

Seems like this knife that I recently came upon should have something that keeps it closed a bit better or am I being paranoid? I’m a little nervous about carrying it on my belt etc with it being loose.

Carry the knife IN YOUR POCKET. The blade, still tip down, will be against the back seam of the pocket and will not open. It will also be more secure against loss and theft. Clipped outside the pocket is just asking for problems.

I’m not familiar with that specific model of knife, but knives of that type are supposed to be carried inside your pocket, or in a sheath on your belt. In other words only the clip should be outside the pocket, with the knife being inside the pocket.

I totally agree with Ken and AR...carry your knife "inside" your pocket. Furthermore...your Kershaw blade can be 'tightened up' a bit by taking an appropriate size Allen wrench and tightening up the pivot screw for the blade. Once tightened up, put a drop of oil on the pivot spot inside the liner. This should help in opening your knife with the thumb stud.

welcome ... from your video, seems there is NO spring tension to close the blade in the frame. I wouldn't carry a knife that doesn't snap closed - aside from closing the blade, that spring will keep it closed, so the blade doesn't open unintended. I'd give it a good oiling & if it still doesn't snap at all, I'd def look for a replacement - not worth cutting yourself over a knife with no blade tension

All I can say is ????

Just one of the many reasons I do not like knives with pocket clips.I have a custom folder by Jason Williams that has a neat feature on it:the thumb stud protrudes slightly through the blade and is rounded off on the end and that fits into a slight depression in the liner when the blade is closed;preventing it from easily opening.Here is a pic of it and what happens when you have a blade open in your pocket with the knife clipped to it and you pull up your pants.

I have been carrying one handed opening knives clipped to my right front pocket since Sal Glesser came out with the Spyderco Endura.
As long as you are carrying a quality knife it's not a knife problem it's a people problem.

I should mention that the wound my son endured on his leg was the result of carrying a cheap knife.My personal preference is a SOG that has a bi-directional belt pouch(it can be mounted either vertically or horizontally)and if I am not wearing pants with belt loops I carry it in my pocket.
