Have a Hibbard, Spencer, Bartlett, & Co scout knife with patent # 701-878. Does anyone know how to look up old patents to see when it was made?

Knife was made for HSB by New York knife Co pre-1931.

Patent dates only suggest when the earliest possible manufacture date might be, sorta. Schrade and Western stamped patent numbers/dates on their knives which remained unchanged for decades.
