I fixed my first 2OT......

Well, I had to get one that was in really bad shape before I got brave enough to break into a sure 'nuff 2OT.
Here is one I found in the bay that the seller had posted some POOR pictures of. I am sure the seller did it because of the covers. The covers were some birds eye maple. They fit OK but looked just plain terrible on a 2OT. The main blade had been broken pretty badly at the tip and the PO sorta tried to form into a decent user.
Seller's pic....
.
My pictures after it arrived.....
.
SO..... I took it apart and it SURE WAS nasty. The blades were deeply pitted so during the clean-up I decided not to try to get the pits out.
I refined the shape of the main blade into a more pleasing look.
Here are the parts after clean-up.....
.
And here she is in her new clothes....
I used Culpepper's smooth Ruby Red bone for the covers. I think the color is pretty much true to the original look.
I tried not to make the finish so shiny, so all I did was do a final sanding with 500 grit. Looks like there is a little shine but not just a whole lot.

Thanks y'all .....
Thanks for all the positive words.
I took my time on this one and learned some things about how taking your time yields a better result.
.
I have been showing it around work today. I have it in my pocket and it sure does feel good in my pocket.
Well..... it totes good... feel good in hand.... SO.... I have a new favorite carry style.
Thanks again everyone!

It certainly looks great with the new bone covers. Birds eye maple looks great on things that have a larger area to show more of the "birds eyes", but on something as small as a knife the effect is usually lost.

My thoughts exactly.....
That 2OT was begging for some good ole red bone!

Mike you sure did the right thing not making the handle too shiny and leaving some pits in the blade.
Now it looks like an old well cared for knife that is very smooth.

Thanks Bob...
That was where I decided to go with the restore... I didn't want it to look like a new one. I just wanted it to look respectable and used.

Well worth showing off! You did a great job of turning a junker into a nice user! The red bone really sets off the knife style, and the blade reprofiling was well done! It does look great all the way around.
