All About Pocket Knives

Any ideas on who made the Remington Swing guard cheetahs in 2006 and 2007. Starting to collect some Cheetahs but don't know much about the Remingtons. They look pretty good just never had one in hand. Any info would be appreciated.

RLP, I can attest to the quality of the 2007 model #R1373. Fit and finish is very fine. A deep red bone with dark highlights on the jigging makes for very attractive handles. The silver bullet shield is pretty nice too. Remington over trade Mark is etched on the blade. Tang stamp is “made in USA around the Remington UMC circle”. Rear tang stamp is “R1373 over 2007”.
I’m pretty sure once have one in hand you will very pleased with it. Happy hunting. Steve B.
I will assume that Camillus made this knife only because they were in business till 2008. All the paperwork that came with this knife refers to Remington only.

Sanders knives has one for sale in his AAPK store right now for a very fair price.

Since in 2007 Camillus went out of business rather than settle a long strike I have wondered who made the red 2007 Cheetah style Remingtons myself. I have not seen one dated 2006. Are you sure they exist? If one was made by Camillus and its original paper work is still in the box then the leaflet will write for warranty repair return it to Camillus using the same address as knives branded Camillus. However, most warranty leaflets do not describe the specific knife they were packaged with so I'd have to see Camillus warranty repair in the boxes from multiple sellers before I'd be confident that these Cheetahs were made by Camillus. I have read that after Camillus the next manufacturer of Remington knives was Bear GMC or Bear & Sons.

The other way to determine the answer is to ask if Camillus ever made a Cheetah style knife. If not then they would not have had the tooling. Offhand I do not recall a Cheetah style knife branded Camillus. If one that is know to have been made by Camillus exists then you could compare shape, measurements and pin placement.

Oddly Buck is currently branding some of their three spring Stockmans Remington. What a miss fit.

I don't really have a clue as to whom manufactured them but I just bought a 2006 and 2007 from Sanders.The 06 is one of 500. Guess we'll see. Got the pair for 130 bucks. If they are nice I'll put em the collection, if not then I'm sure the grands kids will be happy to destroy em in a matter of days, lol They've ruined many a good anvils with rubber hammers. lol

Mine says 2007. Interesting how they torched the red bone scales, jigged to resemble stag.

Maybe this could help in identifying a maker?

Upon further research, which involved digging out a few old knives and a call to my brother up north, they look almost identical to Case Cheetahs. Makes sense to me. That's the first thing that's made sense in a couple weeks lol. Be safe ya'll and thanks for the input.

Case Cheetahs are 4 3/8" closed. I remember that because they fit standard Case Trapper pouches but Queen's similar lock back swing guard knives which are an 1/8" longer do not fit the same pouches. leather pouches vary a bit depending on who they were out sourced to and leather stretch but that's been my experience. Length is a simple thing to compare. The shape of the clip point sure looks like a Case 6111L Cheetah.

just found an article by Chuck Hawks says in 06 Bear and Son took over production of all Remington bullet knives.
