All About Pocket Knives

Gentlemen:

In my modest collection I have two trapper knives, both made by Camillus (one a Moore Maker). I've noticed a particular characteristic that both of them share: one blade has much better snap than the other.

Is this common? I'm no expert on knife design, but I wonder if this might be a characteristic of the trapper design since my small sample of two indicates it is a shared attribute. I can't really see how, though.

In my own modest experience of pocket knives, the only brand I can rely on for consistent quality control in fit and finish, walk and talk, spring and snap is the Victorinox brand.
I'm afraid that with any other brand, the snap is touch and go, hit or miss, and I'm no longer surprised when I get a stiff joint or a weak, limp or even non-existent snap.
With Victorinox, I have never been disappointed.
IMHO, Victorinox has set the standard for fit and finish, walk and talk of pocket knives.
I don't know if its a question of hand-made vs. mechanised, or if the Swiss simply make everything with the precision of a Swiss watch. Maybe some one can enlighten me.
