All About Pocket Knives

Snakeskin handles have always been some of my favorites but, for some reason, I've never been able to find much info about them. Even pictures of them only seem show up whenever one happens to be for sale on ebay. I've been able to find a couple scattered throughout various treads here on AAPK but figured I would make an attempt to compile them all in one place. Here's the ones that I have to start..

Case made a Rattlesnake version. Thought you might like to see one.

I've came across a few of the Case ones. Are they celluloid?

Not a "Snakeskin Pattern Handle" but a Snakeskin covered gold foiled box containing 6 Case XX Chromium steak knives.
The box shows some age, however I do not believe that the knives have ever been used. CA 256 Process Patent No. 2147079

No, they are laser etched antique bone.


I especially like the "belly" (pile side) scale and the rattle shield on the Dr. knife

Here are a couple similar to yours.
Two Imperials and a Kingston, all with nicely set blades.

My only one: a Camillus

Here is a Custom Canal Street Squeeze...Leather handle, tooled and died to replicate a Boa Constrictor.

This is the Only one they made because of the cost and time it took to produce it. The cost prohibited procudtion.

The Second picture shows 13 sets of the Pinch Lockbacks by Canal Street. Two of the sets have Rattlesnake patterned scales.

I have a Keen Kutter that looks similar to that Camillus.

This would work really well with a snakeskin knife.

Those are really cool! The Colonial (with the snake shield) even successfully copied the colors and patterns of a Copperhead snake!

That is a great collection!

I'm particularly fond of the Case Rattlesnake bone handles.

Thanks! Haven't been able to find much info on the colonial. It does not appear to be celluloid though. I used to keep it wrapped up in a cloth but pieces of the cloth would stick to the handles of the knife. It's rough textured but doesn't appear to be actual snakeskin either.

I forgot about this one and it is hanging on my wall right in back of my computer!
