Have this leather bound straight razor pattern book from the 1800’s. Any comments as to it’s purpose or current collectibility?

I agree, cool book but a manufacturer's name on it would be great. There is a drawing of a pearl handled razor on one of those pages that looks like the carved pearl on a couple Wade & Butcher pearl razors I have had but the pearl handles could have been outsourced to several makers.

No name on the book that I could find just different names of razors. This came from a lot of several razor books that are labeled wostenholm, so my initial thinking is That this came from them as well? As I’m looking thru the book I believe that it might very well be from George Wostenholm, last page has couple of order slips for Wostenholm. Not sure, looking to everyone’s expertise.

If you look on one of the pages(photo#3)you will see the name:The Scottish Vulcanite Co. Ltd.Neat old piece of history!

The last picture four posts back shows a drawing of a razor with the I-XL tang mark. That was the Wostenholm trademark. It certainly would seem to be a Wostenholm book. Priceless piece of history there. It's amazing how everything was so intricately hand drawn back then. Nowadays you just throw something in a scanner and it's done in seconds.

They were probably just the maker of the handles as I believe Vulcanite was a term used to describe a hard rubber material used in the manufacture of razor and knife handles.They likely made them for many companies.

I might be interested in discussing purchase.
Appears they were a wholesale company dealing with razors for the American trade and that is a record of orders.

Yes, perhaps at that time they did not indicate the names in the book.
