Just curious ....How many “Club Knives” were issued by the old NKCA orginazation. And, also a listing of the years and each manufacturer. Thanks. SHC

Knives started in 1975.Some knife books will have listings of club k wives and the #'s that were. made.I think the most of any one year erre 12000 of the 1981 Queen stag cigar jack.Totals went down from there. They are not hot commodities.

I love these knives and own two of them. The 1984 Hen & Rooster, and 1986 Gerber. Both beautiful knives and very well made. It's a shame that the National Knife Collectors Association went defunct. From what I have seen they all hold pretty good value these days.

These two pages which I am attaching below are from the Official Price Guide to Collector Knives (15th Edition, published 2008) by C.Houston Price and Mark D. Zalesky. I believe the information provided may help answer your question.

I have this one marked,"one of 2600 1980" and has the NKCA Museum etch on the blade.

I think the first NKCA knife was a stag handled Anglo-Saxon Whittler. I forget who made it and I didn't bother to look at the list posted above.

Unless something has changed, that particular knife still holds some value.

Here are my NKCA knives. This is all of the regular year folders from 1975 to 1998. I am missing a few of the commemoratives They are what I started out collecting about 12 years ago when I got back into traditional knives. I paid somewhat more for each of them than what sold listings on ebay are now indicating.

Beautiful collection danno50. Lots of great companies contributed to these knives (Case, Kissing Crane, Hen & Rooster, Queen, etc.). They seem to have been made with extra attention to detail/quality compared to what was on the regular lineup. My 1986 Gerber/NKCA with the jigged bone is probably the finest lock back I have ever seen Gerber produce. You just don't see jigging like that anymore. My wife held the knife so I could take the picture below.

Thank you so much for such an informative reply. Just what I was looking for. Yes, I only have 4 of the knives but I’m very proud of the ones I have. I also hate that the NKCA folded. I guess maybe the inter-action that the computers provide, in a way ,help keep an organization’s interest afloat and thriving. I’ve sure enjoyed finding out about the AAPK and the ability to correspond with its knowledgeable members. Thanks again! SHC

My 1980 NKCA knife is completely different. Two blades on the right end and one on the left. They all have long pulls. The left bolster is different. The etching on the master is about the only thing that is the same as yours. Made by Robt Klaas (Germany). I wonder what the story behind this is all about. Any ideas?

My guess would be they’re two different knives. The list of official annual club knives posted above says the 1980 club knife was one of 12,000. The knife Ray posted says it’s one of 2600, and it has the museum etch on the blade. Maybe the one Ray has is a special edition for commemorating the museum, and is not the annual club knife. SHC it would be great if you can post a picture of yours so we can see the difference between it and the one Ray posted.

Okay. My error. My knife is an NKCA knife. Completely different. Must confess I didn’t even know they issued a Museum knife. I should know.... everyone has a knife.

And yep, I’m missing out by not being able to send pics. Don’t give up on me, I’ll get it yet. Next time my grandson comes around that will be top of the list to learn to send the knife pictures. SHC

The four knife set that Roger mentioned came in a hard, velvet lined case. It included the knife Ray posted, a pearl handled, made in Japan knife (there was some controversy I believe), a Case elephant toenail and I cannot remember the other knife in the set. This is the elephant toenail below.

The NKCA Youth knives were the first set I collected, beginning when I was about 11 years old. I've got the full range from 1990-2013. And then also collected a lot of the prototypes submitted from different companies for the NKCA to consider choosing each year.
1st photo is my main collection, and the 2nd photo is the prototypes.
