All About Pocket Knives

...with TWO edges instead of one!
Double edged knives have always been considered as either being an assassin's weapon or too dangerous to be of any real use. In truth they are no more dangerous than a blade with a single edge and most assassin's tools that I have seen usually resemble a three cornered file that has been sharpened on all edges.
They are also much harder to successfully grind although one of the most beautiful and symmetrical double edged knives was a ring guard Michael Price dagger that belongs to a good friend that had absolutely flawless grinds. I'm still trying to figure out how they got such beautiful symmetry without using a powered grinding wheel.
Anyway I thought I would compile a bunch of double edged knives I have in my accumulation for your viewing pleasure. Please feel free to add any you might own.

Thank you so much for posting them! I am not all that familiar with Randall knives(I only have one)but those are a prize!

Thanks for the kind words Roland;it is appreciated. Here are a few more I dug up.some are not true daggers but rather knives with spear point blades.
#1 A.G.Russell Kydex dagger.
#2 through 5 :African daggers probably made for very small people(pygmies perhaps?)
#6 A small Argentine punal with silver handles.I have several of these still in the original boxes.
#7 An unmarked double edged knife advertising Bixby Shoe Oil.Probably a kitchen knife.
#8 An old Chinese dagger.
#9 An ERN single edge dagger.
#10 a small thumb dagger.

A few more:
#1 A large old Chinese dagger.
#2 A facon marked Hercules Inox made in Argentina.
#3 Lansky's(the sharpening stone people)The Knife;made of Kydex.
#4 A Moroccan choora.The blade is T shaped(has a reinforcing ridge running along the top).

#6 & 7 Made by PIC(Pacific Int'l Corp.)of so-called Korium steel,these were widely advertised in the 1950's.

Yes it is in the close up's you posted here. The two I questioned did not show that even enlarging my screen image. Having like a chess piece helmet. That may make it from the "Knights Templers." Among the highest level of the York Right. of witch I'm not a member of.

While mostly show pieces these days, the W75, Gerber MK-I, and the Muela MK-12 have all seen action either in the outback or on SAR active service. There's nothing like having a friend of the family strapped to your pack or in your boot when you need one.

These are a few of the daggers I have in a rather large family of such knives. These are mostly show pieces these days, although very capable of being used. So why own them? Great question. For me, it's what they represent both in historical context and in modern times. Whether a fashion statement, side arm, or miltary dress accessory, the dagger in all of it's sizes and manifestations have been around since the knife was first carried, and I think they are wonderful!
