Help Identifying Case Knife in Tin

Hello all....

Working hard on getting stuff ready for sale, it’s a substantial collection my wife’s Dad left us.

Any idea what this one is? I’ve looked a ton but can’t find anything online with the tin. Don’t want to open it in case it loses value but would love to know what’s in the tin itself.

Here’s a couple pics

Just my opinion, but I don’t think that opening that would hurt the value at all. I would prefer to know the knife is in good shape and not corroded if I bought it. You have a trapper in cranberry bone there. It’s a pretty maroon color, some are more pink than others. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply!

My pref is to open one (we have at least two) but I wasn’t sure if it would affect value, so thanks for your take.

I looked all over and found knives listed that supposedly match it via numbers on the sticker but of course, without opening it, I can’t compare.

I guess I’ll open one! 😜

God Bless....

According to the label, it was made in 2001, so it's been sitting in that tin for 19 years.

Chris, be sure to post a photo or two when you get it out of the tin. Careful you don’t fall in love with the knife.

This is from 2003 and should be very close to what you have.

I'm guessing you've probably already figured this out...with the collections you are going through. I'd just make sure and wipe the blades off, with a lightly damp cloth (of mineral oil), when handling. Sometimes fingerprints can etch blades. The knife in the OP is stainless steel...so I doubt it will be corroded.

That knife may have a Silver Script shield. That is always a nice feature.

Thanks to all, you peeps are so helpful, I appreciate it! Will post a shot of the knife as soon as I open it.

One said 2001 and one said 2003. Which number on the sticker is indicative of the year? Missed that info nugget somewhere.

Thanks again!

07/12/01 is the date the knife was made. (July 12, 2001)

Hi Ken et al...

What do you think a good retail price on this is?

Also could you tell me how, from the label, you get the date? Still unclear on that.

Thanks so much, God Bless and stay healthy!

Chris
