All About Pocket Knives

I got this knife 3 years ago at an auction in a box with a bunch of odds and ends and one of those Mexican tourist knives with a birds head handle. The auctioneer actually held it up and described this Marbles Ideal as a “kids shop class experiment that went haywire”. I guess he had never seen a stag pommel before. I knew it was an early ideal, but wasn’t sure how early. I never bought one before because I thought they were too pricey on ebay.. Anyhow my research indicates that it could be a 1911-1918 half hilt stag pommel ideal. Anyone have better info? 5 in blade with 1/2 in nut. Don’t know if the sheath is original or not.

Looks like it is a Marbles Ideal Hunting Knife # 41 made after 1918 from what I see it was made for 2 years 1918 & 1919 with the handle of leather & Staghorn pommel the sheath looks correct also . I'm no Marble expert so there may be someone with better info . This info came from Book by Webster L. Marble Products

I also have that book (orange cover) Volume 2 and on page 15 a and 15 b knife no 41 was made from 1912-1919 with the MSA stamp used until 1918 and then the three line Marbles Stamp was used after that which would make this a possible late 1918 or 1919 model so you are dead on according to the catalogs, Arnies book did not narrow it as much as what the info in the catalog seems to. Red rider if you have any additional info you can share that would be great. I have a stag on stag model from the 50s and just recently got a 1930s stag handle woodcraft, but this is the gem of my collection.
