Very Rare Scout Knife

I'm thinking the box maybe rare, but the knife is another story. Just another case of the seller having no idea of what they are actually selling. Buyer beware.

Well at least he's not starting off at $500 like some folks do. I think "rare" is the most used word on Ebay ::dang::

If I had a nickel for every time the word rare was overused, misused etc. I would be a rich man, and with that buy some rare knives.

The box is for a Camillus 1047 Scout knife. That knife does not belong with that box.
The first picture is from the eBay ad.
The second picture is of my 1047 Scout knife, the pattern that belongs with that box.

That’s a lot to pay for a box and a twenty dollar knife.

I think that when he says "rare," he means "not well done."

Twenty bucks sounds awfully high for a shell handle Colonial!!

I'd much rather have the box than the $5 knife.

More like a two dollar knife. The box may be worth $10.

I just challenged this guy on the issue and here is the crust of his response.

"I will change the add so people are not up in arms over something so minor when there are way bigger problems on the planet. But it will not affect the price of the knife or box as I could care if it ever sells or not HAHA."

He's just mad because he got caught.

I used to contact sellers and try to politely educate them; I generally got spanked. Recently I have just sent them a URL to the thread here that chatters about them. I don't think they like that, either. Now I mostly just walk on by. Boy, I see some nasty and/or crazy stuff out in the Bay. I have had a lot of very good luck dealing with sellers on Ebay, just a few glitches. Recently I got a good one. I signed on to buy a puukko from a guy in the Ukraine. Turned out that he wouldn't take paypal; he insisted that I send my credit card number to the Ukraine, BOY, THAT AIN'T GONNA HAPPEN. So, anyway, now I have a 'non-paying buyer' thingie on my record. But I am some way over 1000 @ 100% feedback so I am not even going to dispute it.

So far he has ZERO bids, so people must be aware of what he is up to.

He did change his listing, to say he wasn't sure if the knife went with the box. He didn't change the price. For that price, I'm pretty certain he'll get to keep it "HaHa!"

Never underestimate the amount of ignorant folks who just might give him his money. Like ole PT Barnum once said, "there's a sucker born every minute".
