Contento Knife made in Germany

Post by 227thcrewchief » Sun Jan 26, 2020 1:42 pm

Does anyone have any background on Contento Knife CO. I have a Mother of Pearl handled 4 blade utility knife by Contento that I am trying to date.
Any help would be appreciated.

Pictures will be helpful if you have them, but GERMAN KNIFE AND SWORD MAKERS, by J. Anthony Carter, lists Contento as a trademark first registered by Peter Altenbach & Sohne in 1921.
Carter's book is EXCELLENT, by the way. The best resource for researching old German knife companies. Grab a copy if you can! ::tu::

I have owned a few Contento knives that i think were made fairly recently, maybe 1970's-'80's. Decent knives but no one except for extreme out of control knifers bids for them so prices are low.
