SOLDOverall length about 9 1/8 inches. Blade about 4 13/16 inches. Blade is upswept flat ground. Ahead of nickel silver half guard, the spine takes a deep dip about an inch long, which is crosscut in a file pattern knurling, a thumb non-slip feature. In this case it is very stylish, as it transcends into a double deep swedge to the tip. The blade has been polished to a bright finish and had been sharpened earlier. Tang stamped on “left” side KA-BAR over PAT. AUG. 31, 1926 (or possibly 1928). Tang stamped on “right” side UNION CUTLERY CO. over OLEAN, N.Y. Behind the guard are 4 dark spacers, separated by three very narrow brass spacers. This pattern is repeated again at the pommel end. Between is the body of the handle. It consists of two thick rounded formed slabs of green swirl pearl celluloid, secured by four nickel silver pins. The pommel is an oval rounded cast aluminum knob, secured to the through-bolt tang by a recessed or counter-sunk split brass nut. The celluloid is in perfect condition with no issues. The pommel and all other components are tight. The leather sheath appears to be original. All stitches are intact, and it is of superior construction, with a welt of leather between the layers as protection from the blade edge. Someone has punched a hole at the tip for a leg-string. This knife would date from the patent to perhaps 5 years later and is really in outstanding condition. As a side note, it is believed that KA-BAR also made knives in a very similar pattern as a contract for Western States Cutlery in Boulder, Colorado. Maybe take a couple of posts for 12 images. $125 shipped to U.S. addresses. Any reasonable method of payment is fine.

That's a beauty Cal, sorry I missed it. If the sale doesn't work out, I'll take it.
