All About Pocket Knives

One of the reasons we moved up here to Ponder Country was to take care of my Mother in Law. Not many guys get to say it, but she has been a very special lady to me for the almost 50 years I've known her. She has been a strong lady through many trials, losing two husbands and a son, but never publicly putting her pain on display.

Now she has been fighting lung cancer in her right lung for 3 years now. She seldom slows down and publicly you would never know anything was wrong with her. She still attends church, gets her hair done every Thursday from her granddaughter and helps when she can at our small public library. She is up every morning at 5:30 and in bed by 10:00. She has never asked for pity, special favors or to be treated any different than she has ever been.

Her last MRI shows that cancer may have spread to other areas, so today she is having a biopsy to confirm it. She had her 87th birthday this past October and wants to make it to at least 90. All of her older brothers and sisters have made it well into their 90's and I believe 1 will have his 100th birthday this year.

Everyone's spirits are a little low right now, so I'm coming to a special group of prayer warriors and asking for your prayers again. My wonderful Mother in Law's name is Vera.

Vera sounds like a wonderful person to know and be around. I felt the same way about MiL, and miss her quite a bit.

I will certainly say a prayer for her and the rest of the family so that you guys will hopefully be able to enjoy her company for years to come.

UPDATE: Vera has had a rough day and she has already gone to bed. I'm going to turn in early also, but I just want to thank you all and tell you what a blessing and comfort each one of you are. We will all find out the results this Thursday morning when she goes back to see the doctor. No matter what the outcome it's all in God's hands and we will pray for a good finding, but we are prepared to accept His perfect will. Until this Thursday bless you all.....David R

AMEN !!! Once again your prayers have been heard by our Heavenly Father. Everything shows that Vera's glands are clear, the spot on her lung has remained small with no change and she will remain on her maintenance drug. There is a lesion on her pelvic bone that had previously showed up on an MRI and is of concern to the Doctor. It hasn't changed in any way, so in three months he will order another MRI. That's the story as I understand it from my wife. It's like a heavy vail or fog has been lifted off everyone.

Folks we have the strongest medicine there is...Prayer, and I ask God's blessings on each of you for your faithfulness to remember others in your prayers. Again God Bless and thank you very much.
