All About Pocket Knives

Many years ago, I bought a Case knife that was apparently contracted to be made in Germany. One side of the tang was stamped Case, and Soligen Germany on the opposite side. I like the fishtail pattern but the gold flake celluloid covers looked tacky. When the celluloid outgassed, my options were re handle it or throw it out. I opted for the latter and not having the required skills, I sent it to Muskratmanknives on this website. I received it today and I am very impressed by his excellent craftsmanship! He transformed a somewhat mediocre knife into a magnificent knife. I am posting photos of the knife before with the celluloid and after with the bone I requested. I am glad that I asked him to leave off the Case shield as I feel it would detract from the beautiful bone handle that he fitted so well. I am very pleased with the knife now as it looks so much better than before.

Pete, that’s a terrific looking job he did! And I cannot be more pleased with the work he did on mine. I’d say that the fit and finish exceeds the original factory made. Very nice looking knife.

No, on your knife mine still has the celluloid scales...Was referring to the work that MM did on your Case knife.

I’m not sure if all celluloid outgases, but if it starts showing signs of it, I would get MM to re handle it. It’s a great looking knife you have. Mine started to corrode, and I kept it separate from my others so as not to damage them.
I like the striped covers on your knife way better than the tacky gold sparkled on mine.
Mine took about 30 years to start showing signs of corrosion.
