All About Pocket Knives

My father in law, 76, has a pocket knife. He seems to think it belonged to his grandfather; however, he is confused at times, and the knife doesn't appear to be that old. I don't have a picture to add but was wondering if anyone might have some info as to it's possible manufacturer. It's approx 4", pearl with 2 blades, 1 smaller than the other, and has a crown inlay on one side. There are worn markings on one of the blades, the top word can't be read at all and the bottom one can only be made out what appears to be "eland". Any help would be appreciated.

Hello mjrk, It sounds like a Queen Steel made knife to me. Pattern number, I have no clue. There are some pro's this visit these forum that can give you the 411 on it. They'll be along before long. Are there any other numbers or marks on the knife in question? A picture of the knife would get you a faster more accurate response to your question. Good luck in your search.

Gosh mjrk, without a picture we would only be guessing. It could be any one of dozens of manufacturers.

Thanks anyhow. Yeah I've found in my searching, which is how I found you guys, that it's been almost impossible for me to find anything. There are no other markings on it that I could see. And I'll try to get a pic and see if that helps.

Hi and welcome mjrk. I'll take a wild guess and say that it is and Imperial Ireland or England knife. Faux pearl shell handle and crown shield. Looking forward to your pics s-k
