All About Pocket Knives

If any of you fellas have a need, or even just a hankerin', for an indestructible big ol' knife, let me reccommend a Ranger knife.

Youre not gonna slice a tomato or fillet a trout with it, i.e., its not ideally suited for the woods, but to pry, chop, bust, baton, etc anything from a 2 by 4 on up, I don't think you can beat them.

In addition, the price is right, the warranty is unmatched, and the maker, Justin Gingrich, is a real stand up guy.

Yesterday I came into possession of this Ranger Afghan



Quarter inch thick 5160 or 1095, but still kinda elegant with the drop point.

I'll have some better pix of this very impressive "sharpened prybar/urban survival kit" later.

I like the design of that Ranger knife. Definitely heavy duty, I can see a lot of modifications for that one for other applications.

Thanks Hukk...its not elegant or subtle...and I'm sure many of us around here (including myself) are "use a knife for what its designed for...don't abuse it" believers.

But this one is designed to be abused. In fact, I think Justin Gingrinch wants you to abuse his knives! The warranty is that, if you manage to break it, he'll give you a new one. I asked him and he said only three people have managed to break one of his knives.

The is a lot of customization available in his work...from very "woodsy" knives all the way up to crazy, over the top, zombie killing mini swords.

Right now the model I have, the Afghan, is not a production knife, but it will be soon.

Like I said earlier Justin's a great guy, just give him a call, tell him what you want (handles, blade finish, grind, he'll do whatever you want), and in about a week you'll have a hand made in the USA by an actual Ranger knife for a really nice price.

Well, just use a little depleted uranium in it and away you go. BUT, ah- you may glow in the dark, be sterile, delvolop mysterious illnesses Uh no-strike that. We already have heard about anti-tank bullets that use depleted uranium.

You know...it is what it is. Its a heavy duty urban knife. Maybe bust up some firewood, chop up some old furniture that needs to be gotten rid of, and it would would serve very well if some natural disaster (God forbid) occurred (tornado, ice storm, etc). I think the only things that might stop it are cinder blocks and metal doors.

And...if I'm stranded alone in Manhattan with crazed flesh eating zombies like Will Smith in I am Legend...I'm set!
