Robeson PermaLube--oilless bearing

Robeson PermaLube oilless bearing. 623605 - 3 1/16" closed.
Here is a beautiful equal end pen that has hardly been handled. The edges of the beautiful bone are still sharp.
This PermaLube has a piece of bronze inserted in each end of the spring to create a very smooth action in opening and closing
the blade. It works. It's very smooth. The bronze does not come to the end of the spring, as shown in pictures. The bronze can be seen in the spring on both ends in pictures.
The PermaLube differs from the Mastercraft as the bronze is on the tang of the Mastercraft.
Charlie gave a good explanation of this in the thread "Robeson Shurlock Permalube oilless bearing 623606" in
General Knife Discussion.

Thanks for looking.

Great looking knives Joe. As I've said before, you sure have a way of finding those very nice older knives. Wow!!!

Thanks so much for the comments, guys. I'm glad you like the knives.
The PermaLube is new to me and I've had the Mastercraft for a while now.
I find it very interesting Robeson history.
Quite unique really. Robeson was willing to do things like this in this era and keep their standards high.
A great brand.

Joe:
That was some great pics showing the bronze on the spring and the tang of the Perma Lube and Mastercraft. That Perma-Lube ETCH is
just great.

Nice knives, Joe.
Here is a Permalube that I picked up at our last Marlboro NCCA show.
Pattern # 323676, has the bronze shield.

Beautiful and scarce knives Joe and Steve
Steve how long is that PermaLube? What is the handle material?
Thanks!

Steve, can you actually see the bronze inserts on the ends of the backspring on that knife.
The shield has the appearance of having been close to outgassing celluloid. I'm not sure it's actually bronze.
The pattern number 676 is consistent with MasterCraft or Perma-Lube patters, though.
Hope I'm wrong.
