Why don't the new ones lock like this I have about 10 electricians knives that lock just like this.

I bought mine in the fall of '05 and it works just fine.

Hi Lenny,
That liner lock 2138 Sodbuster is actually very rare and hard to come by. It was made from 1970 until the early 80's...82 IIRC. I have one that's never been on a stone. They are starting to bring more money now.

Yes I like the locking feature on these older ones

Only a few older ones(back to 1970) had the lock, most did not. Most older ones were like the newer ones. Some had carbon blades.
