All About Pocket Knives

Here is one I just fished out of the bay today.
It's a Henkels and it has a broken blade but that will give me some blade making practice.
It has some pretty cool liners with the "coin edge" on em.
One thing I thought was pretty cool is that the main blade hits in the center of the mid scale. SO, it looks like there is a slot or groove cut in the liner to accommodate the blade. I can't tell from the pics if this is a split spring or not. Maybe y'all will know.

Mike, it looks to me like something has caused the liners to warp.
It looks like the handles may also be a type of horn.
Eric might know better than I, but I am wondering if the horn decided to return to its original shape and twisted?
Perhaps it hadn't been flattened properly or the stress in the horn not relieved?

Whatever the reason, you may have to straighten out that liner or make a new one..

That is what I was thinking Dale. The scales might have shrunk (is what I thought) and pulled the ends closer together (??)... therefore, bending the liners in the middle.... (??)
I figured I might try new handle material (bone) to see if the liners would stay straight. I sure want to keep the original liners.

It will be an interesting restore.
We shall see.

I have made a bunch of disassembly mistakes and I have made a bunch of re-assembly mistakes. Now... I am going to find out if I have learned ANYTHING..... LOL.

This could be a nice knife if I can do it justice!

I have been studying about how to replace the broken blade. That will be the biggest deal, I think.

I feel like when I get the stump out I might either mic it and get some steel of that thickness OR I wonder if I can find a same thickness blade that I can modify the shape?
