I got this Wallkill River knife today at a yard sale. I had never heard of that company so I checked the internet to get what information I could. Pretty much all I could find out was that the knives were widely counterfeited. This one looks original and I don't see why someone would alter a knife then sell it for one dollar. Any information would be appreciated. Thanks, Al

Certainly not a fake. It is a heavily used all original and fairly rare knife.

Here's a couple of Wallkills. The equal end is 3 5/16" closed.
They are mighty fine knives for second fiddle.
Probably didn't have the polish and the better covers.

Nice knives posted by all. I was always fascinated by the name,"Wallkill" and I remember reading somewhere that the suffix,"kill" was another name for "river"(I think it was Dutch from the early settlers of New York). There are several towns in upstate New York that end in this;i.e.: Peekskill;Fishkill;Walkill;etc.
It would seem to me that the name Wallkill River is a bit of a redundancy.Just sayin'

I've never heard or noticed that Wallkill River Works branded knives were widely counterfeited. Yes, I've seen some but no more than the next comparable brand. Far more Case, Remington, Keen Kutter, etc. fakes since those are the knives being collected, bringing high dollars and thus counterfeited.
