All About Pocket Knives

I just got this Chicago Cutlery P16 Stockman. As you can see the wood handles are pretty worn around the edges and the pins are proud. The knife is tight and the blades are full, but because it's a Swinden key assembly I'm not comfortable in disassembling it (yet). Any advice on how to proceed in my new project?

Whenever I rehandle a swinden key knife, I convert it to a conventional pinned assembly. Very easy to do. I learned hot to do it from a great video by "Muskrat Man". https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X44CxU2wtOk I hope this helps. Herb

if you dont want to convert the swinden key just grind off the cetner pin and punch it out then the knife will slide apart with ease. if you're not converting them they are one of the easiest knives there is to dis and reassemble you only have to replace the center pin.

Yep, what MM said. Once the center pin is out just give the handles a twist and it'll come right apart. To put it back together just put the bolsters over the pin heads and give the handles a twist in the opposite direction to lock the pin heads in the slot. Put a new center pin in and you're good to go.

Appreciate the help! I'd be more comfortable taking out the center pin to disassemble the knife. MM I watched your video, wow! I've got a lot to learn, and need more tools!
