All About Pocket Knives

I recently bought this 093 "toothpick" at a fairly reasonable price on the bay because of the missing chunk of bone on the mark side and missing shield. (first pic.) I thought from the ebay pics that I might be able to do one of my patch jobs, but the missing section turned out to be just too big when I received the knife. After searching through my Culpepper collection, I found a pair of scales that I thought might match the pile side closely enough. It ended up being not as close as I thought, but I think its close enough that that I'm not going to bother replacing the perfectly good side with the other piece that I have. (At least that's how I feel at the moment.) You be the judge. The 4th pic is the good pile side that I was trying to match. Last pic is my new knife with my 098 Tested. Even though the 093 is 5" long (closed) that old 098 dwarfs it in comparison. I think they will keep each other pretty good company in my collection. Oh, and I almost forgot - the replacement shield came from a 6265 "donor" folding hunter in my parts box. Although it is a little beat up, this shield amazingly was a perfect fit with the pin holes in the liner that were already there.

I am with you, I think that the handles match well enough. Looks really good, and I'll bet she rides perfectly in the pocket!

Your knife looks great. If the difference between the 2 sides doesn't bother you... then all is well.
I see the difference but it would be hard for the untrained eye to see a difference. If you don't point it out.... nobody will say anything.

I say, great job... your knife is 100% better than it was when you got it.

Well, it's kinda hard to look at both sides of the knife at the same time...so, I think they match just fine. Great work!

Nice work. Matching handles is a fairly recent phenomenon. Look at the knives made in World War II, many of them had one dark handle in one light handle.

Yes Sir, looks good. Knife handles don't always match and usually use accentuates the difference. But those are pretty close. Great job.

how hard I try to find them.
