Hey Aussies

If you can think of something to talk about that is not related to knives, discuss it here.

DIGGER!!! Good to "see" your ornery hide again. I was just thinking about you the other day, wondering where you'd got to.

So a Mallee Boy is a rough comparison to a "Country Boy from the south" here in the states? And what's this business about "shootin' shags". What the heck is a "shag"?

The mallee is an area of north west Victoria in the state where i live. Very harsh desert country, a lot of soldier settlers were given or could buy subsidized cheap plots of farm land. Most failed to make a go of it. Mallee roots are a prized piece of firewood that burn for such a long time. Very hard to get now as most of the mallee trees have been removed. The mallee trees helped hold the soil together, so when they were removed, they get severe dust storms in the mallee region. A shag is a bird, i will post a picture.

Jerry a shag is a corman bird.It does not have oil in it's feathers like a duck so it sits on a rock or log to dry out.
When you build a dam on the farm the corman come along and eat any fish or crayfish in the dams.
I've never shot one but fire the shot gun in the air to scare them.

My friend you would be most welcome, but stay out of the big capital cities, and spend your time out in the bush.

I don't know about that... I think most people here on the AAPK would be just fine with Jerry being AAPK's roving ambassador at large.
I would donate a knife to be sold or auctioned off here on AAPK and the proceeds of which would go towards buying Jerry the ticket to Australia.
I'll bet if 30 people on AAPK donated a knife to auction it would be enough to buy Jerry a ticket and give him a little cashola if he wants to go Walkabout!

A round-trip ticket to Brisbane Australia from Chicago O'Hare is only $1,357!

I may be crazy but I think there may be enough crazy people on AAPK that we can pull this off!

Look at you, Dale. Talkin' all blue sky crazy and stuff. Even with a ticket, I couldn't afford lodging, meals & transportation. Thanks for the thought though. I really appreciate it. It's nice to know you're held in that regard. ::handshake::

Jerry,

I am well but sometimes like yourself the dodgy back takes the "wanna" out of me at times.

Cudgee and Shearer have covered your question well.

Stay well Jerry.

I don't know, I think that's an excuse. Every Marine who's been deployed knows what an absolute pain it is to get your shot record updated. Literally pain!

The younger (than us) Marines said that "Pain is just weakness leaving the body."

But you & I are from the Old Corps, we just said, "#*$××%@, that hurts!"

The generous nature of the people on this forum just blows me away. What a great place to hang your hat.

You're a good man Phil. A little loony in the head but a good man. You would be better served spending your hard earned money on those two beautiful granddaughters.

Truth be told, at my age, the prospect of an 18 hour plane ride in coach just ruins the entire dream. The three hours from here to Phoenix to visit my daughter is just about more than I can stand. What a little weenie boy, eh?

Tommy, I just hope I make it to 82. ::pray:: My mom died at 72. My dad checked out at 79. But wait, there's still hope. My paternal Granddad lasted until he was 96.
