All About Pocket Knives

I’m still working with that ivory colored jigged bone on a few knives. This Klein tool knife had some heavy blade corrosion so I went with the blade refinishing. The handles weren’t pinned but had the melted plastic tabs that hold the plastic handle to the brass (?) liner. I replaced those with some over-sized pins, removed the screwdriver blade and removed the bail. Pinned it all back together and did some polishing. It’s a nice little EDC that fits nicely in the hand.
I’m trying to love the ivory jigged scales but I find them a bit bland and a little uninteresting. I considered torching them but decided to leave them in their natural state.
Here’s the finished knife; I’m not in love with the oversized handle pins, next time Ill drill some smaller holes in the liners a use smaller pins.
All in all I’m happy with the end result.

Jeff, I kind of like the ivory jigged scales. And making it a 2 blader is a great idea. Hawk bills always have an appeal also. Great job.

That method of attaching the handles is called the post method. Basically a post of Delrin, or whatever the handle material happens to be, is injected through the hole in the liner and then melted off flush on the inside.
Camillus used this process a great deal. I know that Camillus made a lot of knives for M Klein back in the fifties and early sixties, but after seeing those liners for the Post method I'm thinking that M Klein must have gone back to Camillus at some point in the last few years before they closed.

I always flatten out the liner and then drill 1new holes for the pins. It's not hard, just be sure you get the pins in line front to rear and also from side to side. I have gotten them off line before and it looks a little strange.

I have seen some of those 3 blade TL-29s and I have sort of wanted one BUT.... I just didn't want any more TL-29s.

WELL, in light of how yours turned out, I want to do me one like the way you modified that one. Great job!
