All About Pocket Knives

I’ve been rather frustrated this summer trying to do repairs. I was in the hospital June 28 – hernia surgery, July 26 – surgery to remove the mesh, August 24 – intestinal blockage related to first two surgeries. As you might imagine I haven’t had much time where I felt like working on anyone’s knives, let alone working on a knife for someone else.
As a result stopped taking in the orders for the time being and I will see how I do recovering from the surgeries.

The recovery process has been arduous and slow and I’m still a long way from healed up, but as I have begun to feel better I wanted to play with something sharp.
For some time I have had a real hankering for single blade jack knives. I like carrying them because they’re nice and thin and I especially like older steel and bone handles. I have collected a number of donor knives that I wanted to someday make into single blade jacks that I could EDC. I started this project in July between the first and second surgeries. I think I have posted a couple single blade jacks than I have restored/modified a few months back. Here is one I have been working, though I still have some polishing to do and the etching of my logo.

This was of course a Camillus #23 that I stripped down to a single blade and the bone I put on it is Culpepper’s new Amber RJB with Grooves. I really like this jigging pattern!
I am a little bit more do get like etch my logo and polishing, but it’s nearing completion.

I don't think there is a brand-new knife made that looks as good as that one!

Thanks guys for the confirmation. Sometimes I get so invested in a project it is difficult for me to be objective, I am glad y'all like it too.

I have a Cattaraugus jack about 2/3 completed. I put the Bourbon colored RJB bone with grooves on it. I can't wait to see how it looks finished.

Dale... I sure hope you get healed up from your surgeries! I know it's frustrating to go in for ONE surgery and 2 MORE come up as a result. I sort of know how you feel. I went in for lythotripsy 2 years ago to get some kidney stones busted. Well, they took 2 different shots at the stones with the lithotrypsy but all the stones did was bounce around in my kidneys..... BOTH TIMES! Then they finally went in with a laser to bust those jokers. They got 'em that time! FINALLY!!! Just more money leaving my pocket and going into theirs.

ANYWAY... Great job on the knife! I have been eye ballin' that jigging pattern for a while. Now that I see it on a knife.... it looks pretty nice!

I have a Cattaraugus I'm almost done with that has the same jigging pattern on the new handles, but with the bourbon color. It should be done soon, I'll post it when I'm finished with it.
