Help on info about maker named STACY

OK guys, I agreed to take this knife from a club member/friend in hopes that someone can help with information on the maker.
It is clearly quite old and I suspect either prior to the tariff or possibly not made for import.
Length is 3 1/4 inches, handles are bone.
Both tangs are stamped STACY with the back side of each stamped with what I believe to be the address NO 4 (over) NEWGATE (over) ST. That format looks like a Sheffield address to me but I can find nothing on it. Goins has a maker named STACEY listed, but clearly different to the knife in question.
As always, any and all help is appreciated.

i found three references to stacey.
stacey bros. & company - shefield - 1847-1941
stacey, henry v. - shefield - 1893
stacey, james e., & company - shefield - 1893
all listed as mfrs.

Paladin, I don't know if this helps C. Houston Price 14th edition has listed

thanks coalminer i failed to mention they imported knives from shefield to ark. with a connection? to ward, thomas & sons.

Hi... those names are spelled Stacey, but the knife is stamped Stacy no 'e' It is most likely a Sheffield made knife from the end of the 1800s or so. Newgate is a famous London street located right in The City. Perhaps this was a merchant's stamp. So far, I haven't found anything specific on No 4.

Newgate is a famous London street says smiling-knife.
I think so is Kings Road or some thing like that. Correct me if I am wrong I mite behaving a senor moment here now. Due to my age.
One other famous street comes to mind is Pigalle in France is this right too?

It is a dandy. The snap is about as hard as I've encountered. There is a taper to the back springs like I have never seen. Later in the day, maybe I can get a good photo of it.

I started this thread back in December of 2007, with a question as to information on this brand.
During the time the post was active, I received a PM or email from a member named Stacy who was interested in purchasing the knife. At the time I did not own the knife but I have just acquired it. If he, or she, happens to see this current post, please contact me if still interested in purchasing the knife.
