This BD Gunstock is probably 2nd Generation. The F&F are especially fine. The Gunstock look is more subtle than on some brands. Can seen best on the pile side. This is a very satisfying knife in both major and minor details. Purchased from Gary [Kennedy Knives.]

Excellent looking knife QS. Those are well made knives and look tough as well as elegant. Gary always seems to come up with cool stuff and is a great guy to deal with. Nice find.

Great looking knife QS! The stag is A+++. I believe the knife is a 3rd gen square bolster stockman. Is there 1993 or surgical inst stamped on the tangs? if so, it will be a 3rd gen knife. The 1st and 2nd gen 3-3/4" gunstock stockman had a heart shield. The 1st and 2nd gen 4" gunstock frame had a spear or bomb shield. To my knowledge the gunstock frame was made in three sizes 3-1/2" 1st gen only, 3-3/4" 1st and 2nd gen, and 4" 1st and 2nd gen.

Yes, you are correct. It is a 3rd gen knife with surgical steel blades. If the tang is stamped 1993 the blades are high carbon steel. Great knife!

Zeke8 Very much appreciate your input. No date on the knife. However inst surgical is stamped on the sheepsfoot and spey blade. The length is 3 3/4". So this then would make it 3rd gen. if I am understanding correctly.

I wasn't sure if it was 2nd or 3rd gen . Just knew it was Surgical Steel which should have told me it was a 3rd gen . Parkers Book has a lot of good info but sometime I'm easily confused Love the Stag

No problemo Gary. Early generations are notably tricky. What we need is a good Bulldog book like the recent Boker book. So the only question is, when are you going to write it?

I like the great stag handles. Lots of character! It's hard to find stag now days as good as the 80's and 90's.
