All About Pocket Knives

Was repairing some trim on the top of the van this morning using some super glue and of course got some on several fingers. Waited for it to dry. You guys probably know this already. Trying to scrape it off with a pocket knife is kind of tuff. What I discovered is if you use coarse sand paper and lightly sand it, it will come off pretty easy. Just sand lightly.

Sandpaper is a little drastic wouldn't you think?
They sell super glue solvent.
You should find it where the glue is sold.

Thank you for your response kaq .It seems I may have left a small detail out. Do not use a belt sander, palm sander, disc sander, on your fingers. All you have to do is just get a small piece of paper sandpaper 2 in.² and sand lightly on the offending fingers that have the glue once again sand lightly. I hope that clears things up.Hopefully the mistake was found before somebody had to go to the hospital with their fingers all chewed up trying to explain why they did it LOL

Hey buddyie, I thought only the safe crackers in the old movies used sand paper on their fingers. Silly me.

My wife’s girlfriend was crafting when her toddler had to go potty. He was just starting and needed her help. She jumped from her project to help him before he peed all over.

All was fine until she realized she had wet super glue on her finger tips and glued her fingers to his penis.

Has anyone ever figured out how to get that spray foam insulation type stuff that comes in a can and use it to seal cracks and etc. ? If you get it on your hands they turn black and you just have to let it wear off. Never thought of sandpaper, but that may be the best option.

Vegetable oil takes that crap right off.
Your best bet is to wear disposable rubber gloves when handling that foam insolation.

I use super glue frequently for temporary bonds and for certain things for a permanent bond, and occasionally I get some on my fingers.
I never considered sanding it off, but I have several brands of superglue debonder that I keep on hand at all times.
It works so well and so quickly and painlessly but I have never considered using anything else like sandpaper.

Acetone or ladies nail polish remover for super glue. I glued to fingers together once on a service call to Bush Bake Beans in Wisconsin. took a knife blade and carefully got them apart. 1986-7. Before we knew about the other. Heat will crystallize it. When I was in watchmakers school, some guy put it in the elevator buttons. As for the foam, done that and just let it wear off. Filling in wire runs from the engine room to under the pilot house, new ships. Probably pocket change to some of those buyers.

I use super glue all the time, makes a great finish on pens, I always keep acetone around. It is the best for cleaning up super glue and unsticking your fingers.

Acetone will take off the foam as well as superglue.
It also causes cancer if used in contact with the skin on a daily basis .
I'm sure that foam and super glue if used in large quantities will also cause it.

You wear a mask when sanding or for fumes, safety glasses for your eyes when grinding and ear plugs to protect the hearing.
Why not cheap rubber gloves when handling caustic materials?
They do make your hands hot and you get less dexterity when wearing them.
You don't need them all the time.
You just need them when handling these caustic substances.

I totally agree, I use gloves and do wear a mask when sanding wood or applying CA gkue.
