All About Pocket Knives

I’ve got an itch for a Laguiole but I need yalls help on which brands to look for and which brands to steer clear of. I’m looking for a high quality knife.

I’ve wanted one for a long time and it’s time to scratch the itch.

p.s. Are there any custom makers that anyone knows of?

Beware of fake Laguiole knives,i.e. not made in France.
I toured around France in 1993. Every town has cutlery store and larger towns have many. I checked out quite a few. The large number of makers and variety of handles for Laguiole knives over whelmed me. Made it very hard to choose just 2 or 3 fine examples. But don't expect too much. The best are well made but no better than the GEC knives being made in last 10+ years, and perhaps not quite up to a GEC. They are famous because of the design which has become the icon for French cutlery.

Won't go wrong with Fontenille Pataud.

There are some on Amazon and Google will get you tons more, some VERY expensive. No matter what you buy, pay particular attention to the "Bee". High quality knives have high quality "Bees".
