All About Pocket Knives

I got this oldie a couple of weeks ago. It was missing a lot of bone, but I fell in love anyway. As you can see, someone used it a lot. I coughed up a buck and home it came.
So, having a chunk of thick leather and something to cut it with I went to work.
First I cut the leather to shape and glued it on with crazy glue. Then I used to glue to ad texture, sort of a fake jigging. The last step was black nail polish which cleaned up the whiteish bits left by the glue and also give it a little strength. I was also able to clean up the ‘v’ under the shield and make it more even.
I still don’t know what it is. The main blade has totally lost its tang stamp and while it’s marked on all three, I can only make out partial stamps.
What I have is “tford” curved over “Cutlery Co”. Any ideas?
I have to admit, a very kind member offered to rehandle her, but I turned him down. I know she’s sloppy and not exactly a thing of beauty, but it was a fun little project!

I just did a little research, a bit late, and I think it’s actually a Hartford. The tang stamp is much closer. So, 1940 or older! Yay!
I’m off to the Red Barn and I’ll take her along to show the fellow I bought it from. He’s one of my regular guys.

I can't enlarge it too much without it blurring.

Hey, NWNY, here’s a trick. I’m using an iPod, and it might not work on a monitor. If in image blurs out too much, just grab your magnifying glass and look at the screen as if you were looking at the actual knife. Sounds sort of silly but it works!

I did take my little project to the vendor and he thought it was pretty cool.

I think it pretty darn cool too. any time you can bring one back and use it is great .
