All About Pocket Knives

A bit of history and a neat artifact... 3 1/2 inch four bladed silver colored handled pocket knife...marked on one handle... Palace of Machinery...Louisiana Purchase....Cascade Gardens....other side....Varied Industries Bld....St Louis World's Fair....Liberal Arts Bld...both handles have other designs buildings and what looks to be a coin.....All four blades are marked A.J. Jordan... the largest blade is also marked.. Registered Germany on the back-side....I've been told these knifes were sold as a souvenir during the World's Fair...A very well made knife which has been carried and lightly used the blades seems to be full...I would like to know what material the handles are made from; the value of the knife...and any other information available.....thank you and enjoy this little piece of history that is well over one hundred years old

Very cool historical knife. I would guess the handles are aluminum.

The handles are aluminum and the knife is very similar to ones that were made by Daniel Peres.I wouldn't be surprised if Peres actually made them for Jordan.

Daniel Peres...Now there is one that I have missed don't believe I've seen any of the knives... Thanks for the info I'll have to some research and wouldn't mind taken a look at some pictures of his work!!

Here are three that are marked Peres;one that is marked Jos. Feist(which I believe Peres did the handles)and an unmarked miniature.

That's a cool and rare knife. Here's a Henckels multiblade from the 1893 Chicago World's Fair. It's 2 inches closed. It's in pretty good shape, but the master blade is down a bit. The purse did a good job of protecting the scales with only light wear on the high points. The scales are very detailed and made out of aluminum, which was somewhat of a novelty at the time. The separate "Germany" stamp is consistent with the early 1890s date. The liners are milled.

That Henckels is beautiful! I have a ring that has a csrved stone in it with the bust of Christopher Columbus and the dates 1492-1892 which I believe was from the Columbian Exposition of that year.The image is hard to see and by wearing it I have chipped the stone quite a bit.The ring itself is silver with gold accents.

Daniel Peres...Now that got me to thinking.... I found two knives that I believe is worth while...No1.)...Is a 3 1/2 inch closed 2 bladed knife believe to have French Ivory or waterfall handles with a nice bar emblem....The large blade marked with an ale barrel and D. Peres Solingen...the small blade marked.. Magnetica.. which is one of Daniel's trade marks....Cir 1900-1932....( pg. 83 Blades Guides to knives & their values 7th edition)....No.2) a small 2 bladed knife 2 3/4 inches closed... the larger blade is marked A.W. Wadsworth & son Germany...The smaller blade unmarked...they were in business from 1905-1922..(.pg.101 cited from the same edition)...The Wadsworth knife because it is similar in design plus... the time period and country seems right... could have been Daniel Peres work....I think the design on the knife is from the Art Nouveau period...correct me if I'm wrong...Never- less it's a gorgeous piece both handles are identical only reversed..I want to thank everyone for their valuable input and look forward to more
