Buck Strider

I just looked over and thouroughly examined a Buck Mini Strider for the first time today. I must say that for the money, they are really impressive. I remember TKC saying that she has a Strider and really likes it. Anyone else use one? I think Buck is moving up on my list...

Not to hijack the thread, but the Buck/Mayo TNT is an AWESOME knife!! Tom Mayo is a custom maker. The Buck/Mayo TNT has a titanium handle, and the blade is S30V, with Paul Bos heat treat!! It is incredible for EDCing. I highly recommend this knife!

I find I'm distinctly in the minority on this, but I REALLY like my Strider/Buck 889. It's the one with black oxide coated 420HC blade and FRN handle slabs.
It is one of the smoothest opening knives with securest lockup that I have. I also love the ergos. I don't even mind the 420HC because it sharpens up so well, and with a minimum of effort.
I've seen many more people bash this knife than praise it, but I must say it is one of my favorites. I often reach for it instead of other knives that cost two or three times as much.

I already had the big black beast shown here, but when I saw a full page add for the Buck/Strider 889. I bought it sight unseen off the web. I choose coyote brown, even though I'm not a Marine. Nice knife! I find I carry it on weekends. I like the tip up carry (I'm right handed, the blade is against the seam in my jeans) and I like the very wide blade. I have no trouble keeping the blade sharp.. but I never let it get very dull.
I understand the Buck/Strider collaborations are done. That is fine by me, I think both sides of these kinda collaborations do best by making their relationships short-lived... leads to more innovations and ideas.

They are really good looking knives but I don't know why the police model costs so much more. It looks exactly the same as the stealth coated ones.

I believe Buck & Strider's collab is over. Adam in NYC: Where are you looking at the prices on the Buck/Strider Police? In brick and mortar stores or online? And what prices are you finding?

If I'm not mistaken, it's the blade steel that makes a difference. I recently picked up a B/S 882 with ATS-34 CE blade. What a knife! I didn't realize it at the time, but there is a nicer (More expensive model) above mine. I don't remember the number designation, but it has 154 CM steel & G-10 handles.
Other than my Benchmade axis lock knife, it's the smoothest opening manual knife I have.
