What to do with this one?

As I was bidding on another knife, I threw in a $1 bid on this Slimline Trapper; knowing a backspring was broken because I'd only have a dollar in it regardless of what happened. I ended up losing the other knife I'd bid on, so I was kinda stuck with this one. I still have less than $5 in it after shipping and sales tax, so I still have hardly anything in it. So, will Case be able to repair it? Or should I just go with my original plan of having it pared down to a one-blade (clip point) knife with some nice bone? It's in the rather cheap brown jigged Delrin, which is what most of my Case knives are, and quite frankly, I'm growing tired of it.
It's a two-blade Slimline Trapper, roughly from the 1980s. If I'm looking at the tang stamp right, it's a 1987 knife.

I'd fill out the Case warranty repair form...then they can tell you if they can repair it.

You could turn it in to a single blade knife, if they are unable to repair it.

Alright. I'm doing that now, using the seller's photos. Should I mention that I bought it secondhand or not?

If they don't ask, don't tell.

And that's why I'm also taking my own photos of it, as opposed to reusing the seller's photos. It's easy enough to put the pictures in a search engine and bring up the listing.

As it would appear, I sent in a form by mistake. Now to wait and see what they say.

Got the email back from Case. They say parts are likely no longer available but to still send it in. It seemed kinda inevitable, given the two-blade variant is discontinued, but to me, it seems as though the two backsprings look the same. I plan to send it in, hoping they can repair it, but electing for a replacement if not.

Sounds like you will end up with a working knife regardless.
