All About Pocket Knives

I love the picture of the German Shepard, Joe62. I've got one that's black & silver, and 135lbs. Very smart breed.

Not to take this post off topic, but thanks Duffy. Very smart indeed. 135lbs. is a BIG one. Mine's only about 85,but for a female I guess it's pretty good.
If I remember correctly, I think Mr. Anthony (pa knives) mentioned that he judges the herding dogs in shows.

You sure have a beautiful German Shepard there and one of the best friends and protectors that you would ever need. I would say that mine was 135lbs. because he was a male, he ate everything that didn't eat him first (he ate everything that we ate), and his sire was as big as him, about 120 lbs. but solid black in color. The dam (mother) was about 80-90 lbs. and she was black & silver, with more silver than black. If a person has the German Shepard breed and it has a good blood line meaning it's been bred right, all the way back up the family tree, there is no end to what you can teach them. They will give their life to save yours. I've been breeding him to try to get a pup color that's called a BLUE. It's not really blue in color, it's really a shiny silver all over the complete dog. My dog has about 90 to 100 pups that he sired from different dams. Out of all the pups that he sired there were 50% colored like him but no blues . The other 50% some looked like the dam and some looked like a cross of the two, a little of his color and a little of hers. I had to get him DNA certified to breed him. It took me a while to learn it but black is the dominent color in breeding German Shepards. And you get back from them exactly what you put into them when training them. Ok, I know I've took this thread completely off course by now, so time to get it back on track. Sorry PA, couldn't help myself cause I love the German Shepard breed. I appoligize to you PA.

I love dogs just as much as knives. I write for dog magazines also. My wife and I judge AKC herding breeds all over the country. GReat fun. GSD are one of my favorites. although I am a Cardigan Welsh Corgi breeder of 22 years. I have three imported from New Zealand and currently have a one year old in Holland that is doing extremely well.

hey lenny here's my take on david's book. great for a beginner collector. insight taken from years of study. pa loves knives(and dogs) as student of american cutlery it has given some answers. great history book and entertaining as well. it is not a price guide or catalogue of various cutlery but a reference to knives made in pennsylvania. uh...not a paid advertisement. buy the book.
