All About Pocket Knives

hey guys,

traded for this knife last night along with a WestMark 703 to go along with the 702 i have posted to sale on here. again, any info would be appreciated. this is the first one that i have ever saw. the previous owner is looking for the original sheath. i wouldnt know what it looks like. so here it is.

Looks like a typical German-made hunting knife. Not expensive, made in the millions probably for American market.

Your knife is a Case "Scout" model, not an official BSA scout knife. It was actually made for Case by Kinfolks between 1926 and 1932. Here is a photo of what it would look like with a full blade and the correct sheath. An original sheath in good condition would likely cost you more than the knife is worth due to it's extremely poor condition.

Better enlarge the photos and read the maker's marks. These are fairly rare Case knives and well sought after and hard to find in fine condition.

Thanks for the education and thanks for posting a really desirable and lovely knife. Could you help me find the earlier posts that described some other contemporary to this one, CASE knives with iconic names on the tangs? they are very cool knives.

I don't know the other thread about these. I do know that the other three Case hunters with names were Carson, Boone, and Cody with Cody being the hardest to find. I have a couple Carsons and a Boone lying around someplace I'll try to find and photo them. I also have the Scout in leather and another in cocobolo. The Carsons and Scouts came in those three handle variations, the Boone is a bone only slab sided bowie hunter and I have only seen Cody in stag.

Found a few. Carson 5" stag, and Carson 6" cocoblo, Boone measures 4&3/4", I think it was sold as 5", and the two other Scout variations, leather and cocobolo.

thanks guys! as always i went to the right place. the other knife i mentioned was a West Mark 703. i have a 702 posted on here for sale. besides being made by Western and i was told they were a limited production knife the number on back side of knife was number produced well which number that knife was or something like that. in other words i dont know much would like to know more let me post a pic, yall let me know what ya think?
