All About Pocket Knives

What is best for storing knives in a vault and protect against rust, regular knife packs or knife socks??? Thank you in advance for your advice.

This will be interesting to see the answers you get. I would personally lean toward the socks. Either way put lots of desiccant in there with them.

Thanks guys. I have collected for many years but have not kept the knives in a vault like I do now. I am glad to get the votes for knife sacks. They appeared to be the answer but just wanted to hear from others. Thank you. John

If it's in the budget... I like these dehumidifiers. I keep one in my gun / knife safe and one recharged, in a gallon baggie, ready to go. The beads change color as it soaks up moisture. I can go several weeks, before changing out.

If I had high-dollar knives that I was concerned about rusting I would wipe the carbon steel blades with Eezox, store them in fishing tackle trays that seal, the large ones are about $8 each, and I would add a couple of small desiccant pouches to each tray.
Bone and Delrin handles I would wipe down with mineral oil before storing them in the trays. Celluloid handles I would not store in a confined area!

I use this method for storing knife parts that are prone to rusting or have already begun to rust. I coat them with Eezox and then seal them in the tackle trays. If they are parts that I don't get in too frequently I do use the desiccant packs. If the parts are ones that I'm into frequently and monitor closely I don't use the desiccant packs, but if they're ones that I want to store for a long time I do use the desiccant packs.
