All About Pocket Knives

these knives were made by Davie Boultinghouse up in Bangs, Tx. Now in his 80s (if I'm not mistaken) he still does each and every knife by hand in his one man shop. If you ever make it down to Lampasas, you can always find some of Mr B's latest creations at Nocked and Loaded but it's my understanding he's receptive to visitors at his shop and he also makes a pretty good cup a coffee..
I know of only a select few other fixed blades that feel so natural in the hand.

I honestly don't know Stretch. his website appears to be a minor formality of his b'dness and info is few and far. I've never met anyone who knows much more about the guy than I do...which obviously ain't much. I guess I better reach out to somebody if'n I'm gonna be here tootin the guy's horn. There's a Texan feller on ebay goes by BlessedBill who occasionally has DBs for sale. I reckin I could start there.

thx everbody for the comments. hey Doc B, Nagel's there in S.A. sometimes has a few of these in stock, but not for long.

here's some info Chris at Nocked and Loaded sent me; "In the past, all of his blades were done with 13C26 Stainless that he cut out of sheets. He has his own templates for the various models. He has not been able to get the 13C26 and has switched to 154CM and has them heat treated to 58. He does everything on the knives with the exception of the heat treating. He sends his blades in batches of 150-200 at a time to be heat treated. This ensures a constant across that particular batch of knives. He makes all of his own sheaths, does all of the engraving and all of the other metal work."

Is the handle on the bottommost knife cholla or prickly pear cactus impregnated with resin? I've always admired that handle material and would like to own a knife with that handle someday.

impregnated cholla, exactly. check out a maker named Mick Kaehr at Blue Mesa Blades. another Texan who uses cholla in a more natural state. beautiful stuff. I'll posts some pics of his stuff shortly.

I knew David (slightly) when he lived near Leander, Tx. (Long ago). He made a few damn fine muzzleloaders as well. I remember when he was trying out a new one stocked with mesquite. We were in the same shooting club. Off topic a bit, but anyway. I own one of his patch knives.
