All About Pocket Knives

I think I might have made a mistake on this lot. It started out with a $1 bid with $10 shipping, a bit high. I saw the 1990 Buck 428 Selector, and the LB-7. As a result, I set my max bid to $15. The Selector has a broken blade tip, and the LB-7 is banged up, and a Chinese Taylor model; especially bad in that it looks worse than my 40 year old Buck 110 despite only being a 10 year old knife. Should've paid more attention to the tang stamp!

I kinda feel I might just have wasted $25. The only saving grace is that I do have an immediate use for one of the cheapo MTs and the LB-7--in my tacklebox. Modern Selector blades will not fit the older model. At least it's the two-bladed model, which seems to be a little scarcer. I actually think having the regular 110 blade, then whatever additional blade of my choice is a much better setup. Unfortunately, $40 is a tiny bit expensive but these blades are quite rare. On another note--we need a remake of this pattern on the 110LT frame with the same setup.

I think I may have made a mistake, but feel the Selector made up for a lot of it, and I do have some semi-usable junkers for tackleboxes and loaners.

I wouldn't worry about it. You could take two friends to Wendy's and blow $25 easy enough.

That Selector is pretty neat. Does it have interchangeable blades like Case's XXChanger? How old is it? Did it come with any other blades or is there a possibility you could find some for it? Put an edge on that Uncle Henry and throw it in the truck or tackle box and sooner or later it will probably show itself worth a good chunk of your $25. Put the other tools in a junk drawer in the house and sooner or later they will be used for something.

I wish my mess ups were only $25. I doubt it will make you live under a bridge the rest of your life. When I was 15 I bought two spinner hub caps from a lady in a pawn shop in east Dallas. After I got outside I realized they didn't even match and that I had paid a new price. That experience has come to mind many times in life and each time it enabled me to say no. Turned out to be money well spent. You didn't do bad.

Ditto! Besides... I find I use my "beaters" quite a bit.

Send that Buck to Buck, they'll put a new blade on her for $10 and make the knife new again.
Totally true on the cheap pliers. You wouldn't believe how many times i'v had to use mine around the house. Saves you from having to buy a $100 Leatherman.
$25 rugmar? Man you have cheap fast food where you are! Here in Yorkton, Saskatchewan you are looking at least $10 for a half decent meal. $15 and you have a good one. At least we have Buger King for $5 Whopper meal! Saves the bacon...
