Hard to get a good picture that shows the shadows of the detail. But I'm pretty happy with it. Trying to decide if I should stain or wood burn it or leave it as is.

Whoa Doug, that took some time and patience. That is just excellent. Very pains taking work on the detail!

Thanks. Actually it went pretty quickly. I could vision in my mind what I wanted. I wish it worked out that way all the time. I thought I was done with it but it but after putting it aside I realized it needed more detail. This is the semi finished picture.doglegg wrote:Whoa Doug, that took some time and patience. I would wood burn it adding many very fine lines. Do you have a Detail Master or or a controlled burner? Then spray it with DEFF brand, semi glass.

Niiiiiiiice!
Maybe a little OCD, but I like the first version, the one with the feathers all smoothed together, rather than pulling away from each other.
But that's me.
I'd be curious to see how it would look after a woodburning and mat gloss treatment.

Mr watch: I don't have a controlled wood burner just a simple cheap $15 one. Thanks for the advice.
Steve Warden: Thanks. I thought it looked to plain so I had to add to it.
I will definitely be carving another one when I get a chance. I'm never completely satisfied with how they turn out.
