All About Pocket Knives

This is the Case XX 61048 pattern with reversed tang stamp that I posted about a few weeks ago. Has anyone ever seen a knife like this from the factory? I hope you can super size the pictures and see the tang stamp. As I stated befor this knife was bought brand new in the box by me from a hardware store so I know it's not a fake. I never noticed the tang stamp being backwards until one day I was getting some knives out to oil them. Anyone got a clue about a knife like this? It had to be a factory mistake. Duffy.

I have seen a very fes Case knives over the years that left the factory with upside down tang stamps. There was recently a 06263SS XX on Ebay like that.

Other common factory errors include double stamps (stamping die for the logo hots twice), shields installed upside down, and knives with no tang stamp at all. These errors are all very rare and seldom seen in my experience (double stamp being the most common).

The blade looks rusted bad in the pictures but, it's not. It's carbon steel and only turning darker in spots on the blade. Other spots on the blade are shiny. OH well, just chalk that up to my great scanner pictures . I'm going to try the back ground color that K7K advised me about. I think maybe a camera may have to be on santa's list this year.
