All About Pocket Knives

This coming Sunday (May 5th) is my late Dad's birthday. I have four of his knives and while I would not usually carry one of them on a regular basis, I thought I might carry one in his memory on that day. As there is no wrong choice, I thought it might be fun to give all of you an opportunity to help decide. If you would like, make a choice, let a reason if you like, and next Saturday evening I will tabulate results and go with it. As I said, this is for fun--so if you are so inclined, join in. Here are the choices:

I say pack every one of them. Four knives. How could you go wrong.

All are good choices, but I would pick the remington 1123 trapper.

Remington Toothpick.

It looks like it's the most used knife of the bunch and your Dad might have formed a tighter bond with it than the others. That's my pick unless you happen to know which one was his favorite.

Remington LFP; Toothpick RFP. I'd frequently work them all through the EDC rotation...I do it with my Grandfather's old pocket knives, frequently. It's a great way to remember your Dad!

Man! This is hard. There ain’t a bad one in the bunch. But I think I’d go with the big Remington trapper.

Exactly!! Every day. Life is too short.....live it, tomorrow is promised to no one.

I’d carry the Case Trapper, it looks like he never carried it because it’s is such a good lookin’ knife he didn’t want to bugger it up. It deserves a little pocket time but be sure to have an EDC if things get tough.

Remington Toothpick!! Great knives each and everyone.

I would start tomorrow and carry one per day until I'd carried them all at least one time. Then I'd pick the one that let me feel closest to him and that would be the one I'd carry on his birthday.

Case trapper would be my pick

as I'm a golfer (and presume your Dad was too) ... I'd def go with the white Case with the ball mark repair tool blade.

That fat Remington trapper would be cutting up my ribeye that night!

If your dad was a golfer and you are as well, I would carry the Case Greenskeeper knife, and probably go play nine holes just to remember him. If you wasn't the golfer and he just had the knife for some reason, I would carry the Remington toothpick.
Although, you certainly can't go wrong carrying all four of them!

Myself I'd carry the big Remington Trapper, but out of all of them which one brings back the best memories of him or something the two of you did together. If that helps then that's what I would go with. God Bless and I hope you have a perfect day remembering your father.

I vote for the Case Trapper. Special Day, Special Knife, classy yet manly. But like treefarmer said, "have an EDC too"..... maybe the toothpick.

The big trapper looks like he used it. The toothpick would be a contender but the trapper has more versatility if you actually find yourself needing to use a knife that day.
Whichever you choose, what a fine way to honour your father!

Not knowing your Dad, my favorite knife out of the group would be the Case.

You are lucky you have 4 knives. I have 2 ( the only ones I remember my Dad ever having).

I'd go with the Case golf knife; probably the easiest to replace should you happen to lose it. If your father was a golfer you could even go golfing on his birthday with it.

Remington Bullet ...

Starting on May 5th, I would carry each one individually for a duration of one week. After the fourth and final week I would place them in a display case with a couple family pictures of your Father. You can always say "Here are the pocket Knives that my Father and I carried."
The four week duration would give you plenty of time to prepare the presentation.

The above suggestions all have value. If your dad enjoyed golf I'd recommend the white golfers knife. And I liked Red Riders suggestion that you play a round of golf with it. I'd bet he would be walking the course with you and having a great time.

My first thought was to vote for the one that he used the most which, judging by the amount of metal its master blade lost to sharpening, appears to be the Remington bullet Trapper. However, to be comfortable it requires some kind of work trousers with big pockets or a belt pouch. The Case golf knife is the only one small enough to be a serious EDC in the bottom of slacks pockets so it might have been what he carried most in later life. Also it is such an unusual Case that I did not know they existed. It probably better reflects his later life so it gets my vote.

Was the stag Trapper a gift? That would account for little or no use. It would be my last choice.
