All About Pocket Knives

I've been breaking down some fishing knives and rebuilding them as one blade ticklers with fairly decent results. But I'm getting jammed up in the handle/cover department and thoght maybe I would post a couple pics and get some tips but mostly encouragement from y'all. I spent the winter of '18 holed up in my house messing with resins. Honestly all I got out of it was toxic. I was taking paper wrappers from Roman Candle tubes and trying to embed them in the resin. The photos show some nice looking handle ideas I guess, but they're all kind of troubled-- the paper kept floating up, bubbles, too rubbery, too brittle, etc. I finally got fed up trying to make them and switched to putting gold flake poster board under Lexan plastic I got from Home depot. but upon making them I realized this wasn't the process the celuloid companys used either. So I chucked it all and started trying to make some blades. when I got one that actually looked like what i was trying to make, I got hyped and said "screw the mods, I'l just make my own dang tickler." Well needless to say, that went bust because I got messed up drilling the holes for the back spring And I'm not sure if I'm attaching the bolster and end cap correctly. So this is where I'm at. Stuck and a little frustrated. Have y'all been there before? Can I get a witness? Thanks.

Looks like you've got the skills to come up with some nice stuff!

You can pin the bolsters and end caps to the liners (like you did) as long as the placement of the attaching pins doesn’t get in the way of the assembly pins later on.
You might want to try soldering the bolsters on. Silver solder works at a fairly low temp so soldering can be done with a propane torch. It’s a fairly easy process once you get the hang of it (and it’s relatively inexpensive).

Now that looks like fun.....

Just what the Doctor ordered, fellas. I really appreciate the positive feedback and will investigate the tips you shared. Also, I tend to look at AAPK as one big entity where you only have to introduce yourself once. I've been a member for a couple years about but I tend to hang out with the Trad guys where I indulge my obsession as a Tickler/toothpick pattern head.
