All About Pocket Knives

I didn't realize how rough this knife was when I bought it (an early E-Bay purchase). On the surface it looked okay. There was some definite wear on the bolsters (part of the engraved line on each bolster had been worn away from use I assume). And the main blade tip looked a little worn; I decided to install some new bone handles in hunter green; Once I got the knife disassembled the corrosion and wear became more apparent. The springs were heavily rusted and corrosion/pitting was everywhere, particularly on the main blade spring; After some preliminary cleanup I decided to go ahead with the re-handle in spite of the apparent wear and tear; I had some problems with the fit of the handles to the bolsters. It seemed like the bolster edges weren't quite square to the knife. There's a small bit of epoxy in each joint that normally isn't there on my knife rebuilds.
Here's the finished knife. I left the blades alone (I may come back to those once my new belt grinder arrives next week); You can see a bit of pitting still on the main spring. I left it there because I didn't want to grind anymore of the spring away.
I'll put this one on my shelf and possibly come back to it at a later date.

You have to leave a few of the scars and marks on an old knife. An old knife is like an old soldier, without a few scars and wounds they don't look believable.

I haven’t fallen in love with any of the green bone that I’ve worked with. The color for this one is nicer than some of the others I’ve done.

I learn a little bit with each one that I do. I’m working with some pretty basic shop tools and I think that sometimes limits me a little. But I feel like Im starting to develop a few techniques.
So it appears that you really can teach an old dog new tricks! .
Everyone here at AAPK has been extremely helpful and I’ve learned some things from the pros here that I could never have learned in a textbook! It’s a great group of people!
