All About Pocket Knives

I found this beauty among my fathers belongings. It’s been sitting in a box in my attic for the past 26 years. I’ve been doing a lot of research on these particular gravity knives. Supposedly, the one that I have is said to be more rare, as there was a shortage of stainless steel and they began to make these knives out of the carbon steel, excluding the word ROSTFREI
This knife is in full working order, as well as in beautiful condition. Supposedly, this is the take down version. Anyone know anything more about these knives?

Was your father a WWII veteran in the European theater?

I do not know the current state re' the legality of gravity knives. They were illegal. However, at a recent gun show, I saw multiple tables of spring-loaded, out-the-front switchblade knives offered with no caveat whatsoever.

I had one of these, given to me by an elderly man at church. He had taken it off a German P.O.W.

It was not the take-down variety.

I waited until Mr. Cook had passed away and I sold the knife to a knife dealer.

My dad himself was not a World War II vet, but his brother who passed away before my dad was. That’s how he acquired it. I don’t know very much about these particular knives up until recently as I’ve been reading about them. So any other information you may have about them would be great! WOW, you are very fortunate to have such a family prize.
Just out of curiosity I Googled "Paul Weyersberg & Co.German Luftwaffe gravity knife" and came up with much history of it. There is even a book in publication pertaining to the history of Paul Weyersberg & Co.
It is however not a EDC (Every Day Carry) here in California due to our knife restrictions. Of course it actually belongs in a beautiful box frame to be enjoyed for you and your visual remembrance.

This gentleman wrote a book regarding these particular knives. It’s in his book that I learned about the shortage of stainless steel, and the rarity of the one that I have made of carbon steel. It’s a good read you should check it out!
