All About Pocket Knives

Hello all,
This is my first post. I recently picked up this Zane Grey Ka-Bar fishing knife in nice shape. I was intrigued by the letters on the blade and wondered if anyone could shed some light. Initials? Factory numbering? Salesman sample? Anyway, thanks and have a great one!

Welcome. Yup, that sure looks like salesman's ink on the blade. Very fine example. I am one of the few guys I know who collect those KA-BAR fish knives (they made them in three sizes) and yours is really nice.

That's a beautiful fish knife you have there, oldpocketknives.

The little hole on that mark side cap bolster is for straightening fish hooks.

Man this is one good looking Ka-Bar!

Nice catch!(pun intended).What struck me aside from the salesman's mark was the fact that the model number(T29)isn't hot stamped into the handle like the production models. The other two sizes were T75 were 4 1/2inches closed and the T49 which was 5 1/2 inches closed. Never figured out why they were sequenced like that.Here is a group shot of them.

Here are some of my T29s plus an odd one.. One on bottom first pic, top second pic has no T29 stamp in the handle but back handle has "patent pending" printed in it. One has the Zane Grey plus the A&F (Abercrombie & Fitch) etch. The single blade liner lock is an odd one but correct. Third from top first photo has remaining salesman's ink but seems to be P27. K7K looks like you also collect these. Around here few folks seem to like them, sort of like pruning knives.
