All About Pocket Knives

I have been collecting German Eye knives for several years in deer stag and I was wondering if anyone knows how many total patterns were made in stag? The reason I ask, I see on EBay a listing for a deer stag trapper jack and I have never seen this pattern before. I have 18 different patterns and seeing this trapper jack got me to thinking about how many patterns I don't have. Can any of you help me out with this question?

I have collected Eye Brand in the past but have no idea of how many patterns they made, let alone how many had stag handles. There are a couple of members who might know and likely they will post here.
Only certain Schlieper patterns were imported into USA. They made patterns that were for the European market as well as for export to the Far East and South America, as well as USA.
I assume you are looking for the stag handled knives imported into USA rather than every pattern with stag they ever made.

I have only one Schleiper stag knife and was not happy with the construction of it.I don't know if this is characteristic of this particular pattern(a single blade lockback)but the tang was apparently ground improperly as when closing it the blade will snap shut just past the 90 degree mark. If you aren't expecting it you will likely be treated to a nasty cut.

Ray, they often have a crisp closing snap even though blades are not difficult to open, but i have not had one that snapped shut when just past 90 degrees.
Very good looking knife, likely sell at close to $100 on ebay. It would be a good one to take hunting as long as you remembered to keep your fingers out of the way when closing. For blade steel i bet it is the best for sharpness/edge holding of all the production lockbacks.

Hello all, I would like to thank Joe for contacting me through email. He sent me a list of all the German Eye stag patterns he had. It was well into the 30's. I can now see where I need to focus my hunt for those patterns. Thanks again Joe!
