All About Pocket Knives

So, this is my first time pulling apart a 4 blade knife...a Camco Scout / camping knife.
This small part sits between the middle liner and the awl. I'm assuming the purpose is a "spacer" to make up for the thinner awl tang and the thicker main blade tang, which it shares the same spring.
I guess my question isn't really about the purpose; but, what keeps this from rotating when opening / closing the blade? Seems like it would need some type of offset, in the design, to engage the liner, back springs, or something? Why didn't they just make a spacer like a traditional washer?

I believe they call that a "Catch Bit".

Thanks Jerry...I thought I'd run in to the terminology, before...although I couldn't recall the name. Now if someone can just tell me what keeps it from spinning in there. I can see me putting this thing back together and it spinning out of place, as the knife gets used. Seem like a traditional washer would be cheaper to make. I'm sure I'm missing something to the function of this.

Other ones that I have seen and are similar to this are located by the pin and the end of the spring keeps it from rotating.

I should have included this drawing to show orientation. Then it cannot rotate either direction.

Thanks OC!!!! I was just coming in and answered my own question, about the same time. When I was "mocking up" the stack...it became apparent. I come from the school of the mechanically hopeless
